The school was a boarding school with piano classes, and every student played piano. No one took photos at school at that time; I created this triptych illustration to memorize the story before I forget them. The life of the children in the boarding school is full of vicissitudes.
I went to boarding school since second grade. It was a school that taught art and piano, which was different from most of the schools in China at that time. Far away from exam-oriented education, children learn freely and happily. There were few pictures taken at that time. Thus I drew this series of illustrations to remember this school life.
My inspiration for the composition came from Henry Darger's works and my memory. I want all the characters to have their own storylines.
Color pencil, digital in procreate, and collage.
